Frequently asked questions

How do you source your watches?

Each timepiece is carefully hand selected by myself and a close collector friend who helped found Secondhand Elegancy. We choose pieces based on condition, historical interest, originality, and character. Every watch is personally evaluated before being listed.

Are all pieces authentic?

Yes. Every watch we offer is authentic and contains original parts unless clearly stated otherwise in the description. Watches are carefully inspected by our watchmaker to ensure accuracy, originality, and integrity.

Are vintage watches waterproof or water-resistant?

Most vintage watches are not guaranteed to be waterproof or water-resistant unless explicitly stated. While some serviced watches with new gaskets may tolerate light hand-washing, we do not recommend showering, swimming, or exposing them to water. Vintage water resistance standards were much looser than modern ones, and we advise caution.

Do you offer returns or exchanges?

All sales are final unless the item arrives not as described. We provide detailed photos, videos, and descriptions to ensure full transparency before purchase. If you have questions or need clarification before buying, please reach out—we’re happy to help.

Do watches come serviced?

Not all pieces are freshly serviced unless noted in the description. Some are left in running, unrestored condition to preserve originality.

We do offer serviced pieces as well, handled by our in house watchmaker with over 30 years experience at Omega/The Swatch Group. Our serviced watches come with a 6 month mechanical warranty.

Mechanical warranty covers internal movement function. This excludes user error, accidental damage, water exposure, magnetization, and any signs of tampering or unauthorized service.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We offer international shipping on a case by case basis. Shipping costs and insurance options will be calculated and discussed prior to purchase. Feel free to reach out to discuss shipping to your country.

What payment methods are accepted?

We accept all major credit and debit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Shop Pay. Other payment options may be available upon request.

Do you offer watch servicing?

Yes. We offer servicing on a case by case basis depending on the type of watch, movement, and scope of work required. Our in house watchmaker can service vintage watches, modern timepieces, chronographs, and more. Contact us to discuss your specific needs.

Do you offer sourcing?

Yes. Sourcing is available and is one of the foundational components of our company.
We pride ourselves on our ability to locate unique, specific references, models, or brands that you may be seeking. We love sourcing, especially when those pieces also align with our own curatorial interests. If you’re looking for something particular, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Do you offer modern watches?

No. We primarily specialize in watches from the 1900s through the 1990s, with occasional exceptions for neo vintage pieces. While you may see a modern watch listed from time to time, it is typically the result of a sourcing request or special client inquiry. Our core focus remains on vintage timepieces.
